Reduced Vitamin C uptake
Detailed Analysis
Taking Myricetin and Vitamin C together may decrease the amount of Vitamin C in your cells. This is because Myricetin can block the uptake of Vitamin C and its oxidized form, dehydroascorbic acid. As a result, you may not get the full benefits of Vitamin C. Myricetin inhibits the uptake of Vitamin C and dehydroascorbic acid into cells through sodium-independent glucose transporters, such as GLUT 1 and GLUT 3. This noncompetitive inhibition can reduce the amount of Vitamin C available to your cells.
