Detailed Analysis
Taking Gossypol and Polyphenols together does not seem to cause any major issues. Both are polyphenolic compounds that can inhibit an enzyme called 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, but this effect is not likely to cause problems for most people. No special concerns are raised when combining these two supplements. Gossypol and Polyphenols can both inhibit the enzyme 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. This enzyme helps regulate the effect of mineralocorticoids in the kidney. When it's inhibited, mineralocorticoids can have a stronger effect. However, this mechanism does not appear to cause significant interactions between Gossypol and Polyphenols.
