Detailed Analysis
Taking caffeine and genistein together may interfere with genistein's ability to stop cancer cells from growing. Genistein can cause cells to pause at a certain stage, but caffeine may override this effect. However, caffeine does not seem to affect genistein's ability to prevent cell invasion. Caffeine can interfere with genistein's cell cycle arrest effects by overriding the pause it causes in cell growth. This is because caffeine can activate certain proteins that help cells progress through their growth cycle. Genistein's anti-invasive effects, however, seem to be unaffected by caffeine.
